In my last post Cellphones for the Whole Family I wrote, “What is the appropriate age for Facebook but that’s a whole other post for another day.” It’s another day and here is that post.
My son is eleven and he want’s his own Facebook. I’m reluctant to do so and as such I haven’t… yet. My daughter is 17 and her Facebook is set up with my email address so I see all of her comments etc. She’s turning 18 soon and I know that will come to an end (if she remembers that is, shhh). I can easily do this same method with my son.
I guess my thing is where do we draw the line? He seems so young to be doing these things and yet I work in an industry of social media and affiliate marketing. Google is a common household word around here. Perhaps I am just fighting against the grain?
What are your thoughts? How old were your children when you let them have their own Facebook account? What measures do you take to keep tabs on it? I would love your thoughts and feedback.
